Dinosaur Inc.: How to Survive Digitization and Advance Your Career

Just in time for the Christmas season, I can proudly present my first non-fiction book „Dinosaur Inc.„, which was published contemporaneously in German (Springer) and English (Limit). Nice for you, you might say, but why should I care? Because we are in the middle of a radical paradigm shift, which will truly change everything. Because professional decline is a real option for readers born before 1990. Because half of all enterprises will get submerged by the digital deluge in the next decade, unless they adjust quickly. Having worked for DHL, a logistics giant, for almost 20 years and having recently become the CFO of a digital freight forwarder, FreightHub, I believe that I can judge the technological quantum leap we are facing based on firsthand experience.

I exaggerate, you say? In your own interest, please be honest to yourself. You are not a native internet user, remember life before the invention of the smartphone and possibly embarrass yourself on the social networks without noticing. The arrival of a new species, the Homo millennial, forces you to reinvent yourself, if you want to retain your place at the peak of the food chain.

Even that will not help you ultimately, should you continue working for Dinosaur Inc. If your company is doomed, so is your career. This book allows you to determine, whether you work for such a fossil and how to move your company out of the Jurassic period into the modern age. Having read the book, you will be able to reposition your career as well as your company.

Your personal chances for professional survival depend on your Dinosaur Quotient (DQ), paradoxically the higher, the better. The easily usable Dinosaur Quotient test in this book allows you to understand your own survival chances in the digitization age and which action steps you can take to improve your career prospects. Another test computes the Millennium Quotient (MQ) of your company based on five dimensions. Depending on the result, concrete action steps for your company and for your personal career are proposed.

Given the title, it is inevitable, that „Dinosaur Inc.“ is available as an eBook in English and German. If you liked the book, I would be grateful for a review and in any case, I truly look forward to hearing from you at mf@martin-fritsch.com.
